River guides and whitewater enthusiasts take an active part in your own rescue. Train hard and observe the skills you need to be more confident and proficient while navigating whitewater. The Deschutes River is class III river, a gem of Central Oregon and a great place to train.

The American Canoe Association (ACA), Swiftwater Rescue Advanced Course covers all the essentials of accident prevention and management, hazard recognition, self-rescue, boat-based rescue, whitewater swimming and basic rope techniques. Day II, students learn more advanced skills including advanced rope rescue techniques, unpinning and extrication, entrapment rescues and the use of swiftwater rescue vests.

This two day course will combine an outdoor classroom setting with hands-on learning scenarios in whitewater situations. This course is physically demanding. Participants should be comfortable swimming in Class II+ whitewater rapids. Review the INFO button below for more details.
